Analysis or Current Ethical Dilemma in Health Care Free Essays
There are numerous kinds of moral problems that plague the clinical field however never is a situation more significant than when managing life and passing. In circumstances, for example, these, one must follow their own ethical compass. At the point when the case includes a whole emergency clinic conflicting with their strict commands for the life of a lady, the choice turns into substantially more troublesome. We will compose a custom paper test on Examination or Current Ethical Dilemma in Health Care or on the other hand any comparative point just for you Request Now This paper will break down the circumstance one Phoenix medical clinic ended up in and the repercussions it endured in light of it choice. St. Josephââ¬â¢s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona is an emergency clinic universally perceived for their nervous system science office. They have rewarded prominent patients, for example, Brett Michaels and Muhammad Ali, however neither has picked up the emergency clinic a remarkable exposure as a lady looking for treatment in November 2009. Close by nervous system science, St. Josephââ¬â¢s Hospital additionally has a prominent obstetrics division and this is the place the lady was dealt with. In late November 2009, an in critical condition lady went to the obstetrics unit experiencing aspiratory hypertension. She was 11 weeks pregnant. Over the span of finding, it was discovered that the pregnancy was compounding her sickness by declining her hypertension to the point of setting the patient in impending peril of death. Specialists decided the main strategy to spare the lady was to prematurely end her pregnancy. With St. Josephââ¬â¢s being a Catholic clinic, this choice conflicted with their rules. The choice was taken before a morals advisory group which chose to continue with the system. The basis for the committeeââ¬â¢s decision was that they were looking for explicitly ââ¬Å"to spare the womanââ¬â¢s life, not to end the pregnancy. (Clancy, 2010, p. 1) because of playing out the technique, the medical clinic was deprived of its Catholic status. The issue recognized in this circumstance can be offered in one conversation starter; does the strict connection of a medical clinic reserve the privilege to direct the consideration of a patient? Had the morals board of trustees gone the other way and chose not to prematurely end the pregnancy, this would have precluded the womanââ¬â¢s option to live. One should consider that the patient looked for treatment at a Catholic medical clinic and she ought to have known about their conviction framework. Anyway one doesnââ¬â¢t know whether the patient resulted in these present circumstances explicit medical clinic in light of its Catholic strategic whether she had no way out. In either case, is it not a medical clinics first obligation to give the most ideal consideration to their patients? The best consideration for this patient was to prematurely end her pregnancy however the rules of the emergency clinic would prefer to have seen the patient bite the dust attempting to spare both. My own qualities and moral situation for this situation lead me to agree with the emergency clinic. I have consistently been a defender of the professional life perfect and this example is no exemption. The standards I advocate for the most grounded are regard for the patients self-rule and value. Remembering these standards, the patient settled on an educated choice about her consideration and the clinic expected to regard that choice. To the extent helpfulness, the expense to profit proportion was broke down and an end was arrived at that profited the patient most. Utilitarianism is a hypothesis I would apply to this case. Doing the best useful for the best measure of individuals and sparing those you can spare. Now and then the end legitimizes the methods. This not to state that religion has no impact in rewarding patients, yet it is my firm conviction that if the Catholic rules had precluded the patient to get the premature birth, two lives would have been lost. When settling on a genuine decision for a situation like this, it is essential to factor in interchange goals. The principal substitute goals is the most clear and would have had the most elevated need; move the patient to an office that has no fetus removal limitations. This would have been the most ideal situation; anyway the patient was not steady enough to be migrated and may have kicked the bucket in travel. Another substitute choice would have been to endeavor to hold up out the patientââ¬â¢s condition and treat her medicinally. Do to quiet privacy, the points of interest of the patientââ¬â¢s condition are not known. In light of the declaration of specialists at St. Josephââ¬â¢s, the lady was in basic condition and had this methodology been followed, the results would have been lethal to both mother and youngster. This data makes clinical administration the most reduced in elective need. At the point when confronted with troublesome moral quandaries, it is ideal to have a strategy to aid dynamic. A bit by bit approach frequently works best since it permits the decider to breakdown a distressing decision into serviceable parts. Initial one must recognize the issue and pose the fitting inquiries: What? Who? How? The subsequent advance is to recognize oneââ¬â¢s own qualities toward the difficulty. The third, fourth and fifth steps incorporate thinking of sensible other option, looking at them and afterward foreseeing the potential results of those choices. In the 6th step, one should organize the elective decisions to all the more likely recognize the most worthy one. The seventh step is the place a ultimate conclusion is made dependent on all the data accumulated and an arrangement is made. The arrangement is then executed in the eighth step. The last ninth step is the point at which one assesses the final product and decides whether the choice made was the correct thing. In assessment of this specific moral predicament, the best thing was finished. The choice to neglect the estimations of Catholicism to spare the womanââ¬â¢s life was the correct activity. The emergency clinic concurs and hence lost its Catholic status since they expressed that they would have settled on a similar decision once more. (Kurtz, 2010) Dealing with morals can be a precarious thing to explore which is the reason it is fundamental to have a decent feeling of oneââ¬â¢s own ethical compass. This isn't the last difficulty this medical clinic will confront yet following strong moral qualities and standards, they should feel sure about their capacity to give the best consideration to the patients they treat. Germans pay attention to brew facetiously saying that it is the National drink. In addition to the fact that germans are faithful to their provincial groups, the game unites the nation on the side of the national group. Occasions, for example, the Euro Cup and the World Cup tie the individuals as one with their banner. They sort out and follow the group to such occasions regardless of the separation, wearing their national hues with satisfaction. Germans raise their banners and sing the national song of praise in the one event they feel permitted to show pride in their nation, as the individuals of Germany stay chased by previous verifiable occasion. National pride in Germany has been a no-no subject since military destruction in two universal wars and the unwinding of their general public, with most by far of Germans tolerating that they can't communicate any type of energy. Post World War II saw the utilization of national images being repressed to where it is hard to track down a store that one could purchase a German Flag. It was a harming rout with disastrous consequences for the German mind. A race who truly was not below average people, Ebey Soman states in a web article, German men have had significant effect on the world. From strict reformers, for example, Martin Luther to notables, for example, Beethoven, Nietzsche, Max Born and Werner Von Braun, German men made gigantic commitments to each field.(Soman) However, their thrashing in World War II castrated them. In 1990 the fall of the Berlin divider had at long last, rejoined USSR controlled East Germany with the Republic of West Germany. The unification was celebrated by a huge number of Germans from the east cheerful to appreciate similar opportunities of the western world. In any case, the reunification demonstrated more troublesome than anticipated. An intricate procedure with social, political and financial issues was not anticipated. This was because of social suppositions and desires on the two sides. Numerous East Germans felt their standards, qualities and conventions were downgraded, as West Germans anticipated that the east should adjust to the standards of the west. Laura Heuvinck states in 20 Years of German reunification Ostalgie. Numerous East Germans felt themselves to be under-spoken to in the reunified Germany and felt like peasants excused by West Germany. Blog Archive Columbia Business School Essay Analysis, 20172018
Blog Archive Columbia Business School Essay Analysis, 2017â"2018 *Please note: You are viewing an essay analysis from the 2017-2018 admissions cycle. Click here to view our collection of essay analyses for the current admissions season. For years, Columbia Business School (CBS) has been at the front of the pack of MBA programs that have been gradually shortening their application essays and requiring candidates to be direct and concise in their submissions. It was even the first school to incorporate a micro essay into its application. Last season, CBS gave applicants a bit more wiggle room with the essays, increasing the word count for each by a pretty significant margin (up to 100% in one case), but it has tightened the reins back down for this yearâs applicants. Still, with a goal statement, three required essays, and an optional essay, you should have plenty of opportunity to convey a well-rounded impression of yourself for the admissions committee. Read on for our insight into the programâs 2017â"2018 prompts Goal: What is your immediate post-MBA professional goal? (50 characters) Including spaces, CBSâs career goal question is exactly 50 characters itself, showing candidates just how much (or how little, in this case) space they have to work with and just how succinct they are therefore expected to be with their response. At just 50 characters, this can hardly be considered a true essay, but you will need to approach this with the same level of thought and focus as any of your other written responses for the school. The prompt is clearly a no-nonsense request for information, with no room allowed for exposition, flowery words, background, or pandering. This is all about getting to the point and telling the admissions committee what it wants to know. In the past, the school has provided a few sample responses, including âWork in business development for a media companyâ and âJoin a strategy consulting firm,â illustrating that conveying the requested information in such a tight space is definitely doable and that you do not need to worry too much about grammatical issues (in other words, you do not need to start your statement with âI want toâ or something similar). We like to offer the statement âReveal true goals, not what you think CBS wantsâ as both our own example of keeping things concise and our advice on how to approach and fulfill this request. Think about what you truly want to do with your career in the short term and state this aspiration directly. Keep in mind that the rest of your application will need to provide evidence that your stated goal aligns with your existing skills and profound interests, especially once they have been augmented by an MBA education. This will show that your professed goal i s achievable and lend credibility to your statement. If you can do this in 50 characters (not words!), you will have done what you need to answer the schoolâs question quite well. Essay #1: Through your resume and recommendations, we have a clear sense of your professional path to date. What are your career goals over the next 3 5 years and what, in your imagination, would be your long-term dream job? (500 words) CBS starts this essay question by more or less telling you not to recap your career to date, so we strongly recommend that you do so (and briefly, at that) only if context is absolutely needed for your stated goals to be understood and/or believableâ"perhaps if you are making a fairly remarkable career change. Pay particular attention to the phrases âdream jobâ and âin your imaginationâ with respect to the long-term portion of the question. The school is prompting you to be creative and perhaps even to challenge or push yourself to think big. CBS wants individuals who do not just follow prescribed paths according to someone elseâs blueprint but who are aspirational and more inclined to forge their own way. This is not to suggest that if you have a more traditional plan in mind that you are in trouble or at risk of losing the admissions committeeâs attention, but you may need to take a little extra time to consider your ambitions from the perspective of âwhat if?â and delve more deeply into what you hope to achieve to find the more personal and inspiring elements of your goals. Showing creativity and individualism here can only be helpful. Although this is not a request for a textbook personal statement essay, your response will certainly involve some elements of the topics covered in such a submission, such as short- and long-term goals. The mbaMission Personal Statement Guide offers advice on brainstorming and crafting such essays along with multiple illustrative examples and so may be helpful in preparing your CBS response to this prompt. You can download your free copy here. CBS does not explicitly ask how its MBA program will factor into the achievement of your goals, but if you feel that particular resources the school offers could or will be uniquely influential and advantageous to you as you advance along your path, we believe you have sufficient room and leeway to mention these. However, generic claims or empty pandering have no place at all in this rather compact essay. Any CBS resources you reference must be specific to your needs, and the cause-and-effect relationship between these resources and your anticipated success must be very clear. For example, an applicant might discuss the appeal and instrumentality of CBSâs Value Investing Program and 5x5x5 Student Portfolio Fund in his or her aspirations to one day break into the asset management world or later launch a hedge fund. We do not recommend going so far as to dedicate an entire paragraph to discussing school resources, but you might consider thoughtfully embedding a relevant reference or two into your submission to acknowledge the programâs role in achieving your stated career intentions. Or should we say dreams? Essay #2: The full-time MBA experience includes academics, recruiting and networking. What are your personal priorities and how do you anticipate allocating your time at Columbia Business School? (250 words) Start your brainstorming for this essay by first considering your priorities within the three areas CBS specifically notesâ"academics, recruiting, and networkingâ"but do not feel compelled to limit yourself to them if you have other ideas or plans. The school wants well-rounded students who will not âsiloâ themselves into just one area and who anticipate using multiple aspects of the MBA program to their and othersâ advantage. If you care only about the academic aspect of business school and do not envision yourself participating in any club activities or availing yourself of events or resources outside the classroom, you might not be the kind of candidate top-tier schools such as CBS are seeking. Earning your MBA involves more than completing business classes, and the admissions committee strives to construct a diverse class of engaged and experienced people who can learn both together and from one another. This requires that everyone participate and contribute, and not just in class. With your response to this essay prompt, show CBS where and how you expect to be active in its community and program, whether that is via a certain club, event, course, or other avenue. Explain what drives you toward these areas and activities and what you imagine your involvement will look like. If you can frame your vision in a way that reveals a benefit for those around you as well, this is even better. For example, will you commit a large portion of your time to your job search because landing a highly coveted role at an elite Wall Street firm is your main impetus for getting your MBA? And if so, will you offer to run mock interviews with your fellow students who share this dream? Perhaps you are interested in joining the CBS Follies group to fulfill your artistic and dramatic side and balance your quant-heavy course work, and your many years in the theater will help you coach classmates who are new to the stage so that they can fully benefit from and enjoy the experience as well . Keep in mind that the specific activities and areas you choose are not what is important here. CBS is not choosing people based on whether they expect to populate certain clubs or organize student conferences, so the admissions committee will neither ding nor reward you for choosing one option over another. What is important is that you show you have a true understanding of what CBS offers and a plan of attack for your experience within the program. After reading your essay, an admissions officer should feel that you really âgetâ CBS and can clearly envision yourself there. The school knows that an applicant who has dedicated the time and effort necessary to develop advanced knowledge of the program is one who will have a successful experience. In giving you a place in the class, the admissions committee is essentially betting that you will thrive more at CBS than thousands of other candidates would, so show that you are a low-risk, high-reward potential admit. EMBA Essay #2: Columbia Business Schools Executive MBA will challenge you by offering a rigorous academic experience, global exposure through the international seminar, and the opportunity to immediately apply what you learn to your career. How will you approach balancing the demands of the program with your professional and personal life while you are in school? (250 words) This question basically exists because CBS wants to be sure you truly intend to finish the program. We cannot claim to have specific numbers on this phenomenon, but we know that EMBA students sometimes get overwhelmed by the demands of balancing work, studies, and personal/family life. As a result, a number of them ultimately drop out of the program each year, including some who are asked to leave the program by their employers, who also did not understand the time demands involved. With this prompt, CBS is essentially asking, âAre you sure you know what you are getting into?â To help assuage the admissions committeeâs fears on this point, you might take a somewhat procedural approach in your response, explaining that you anticipate dedicating certain hours on certain days, with your managerâs approval, to study and complete your course work for the program. You might address how you have engaged supportive stakeholdersâ"such as partners, children, and friendsâ"in discussions about your commitment to help clarify and calibrate expectations. Having read your response, the admissions reader should feel comfortable that you have a clear plan in mind, that this is not a whimsical choice but a well-informed decision that oozes commitment. CBS wants to know that you will see the program through to the end, and to communicate this effectively, you must demonstrate that you have the process and support mechanisms in place to not only finish it but thrive within it. Essay #3: Please select and answer one of the following essay questions: (250 words) CBS has replaced its âWhat will your Clustermates be pleasantly surprised to learn about you?â query from last season with this new set of prompt choices, both of which are still invitations to share aspects of your personality but are notably broader in scope. Whichever one you ultimately select, focus on giving the school insight into what makes you tick as an individual, beyond your professional skill-set and goals. a: Please tell us what you feel most passionate about in life. Although we acknowledge that you might actually be âmost passionateâ about your career, this is not your best choice for a topic here, especially given that two of the other essays have already allowed you to discuss your professional life. Clearly, if you are applying to and ready to complete a leading MBA programâ"challenges not for the faint of heartâ"you are a driven individual with more enthusiasm and ambition career-wise than the average person. The CBS admissions committee already knows this. What it wants to learn now is what gets your heart pumping and mind racing outside of work. As Steve Jobs once said, âPeople with passion can change the world,â and although he was speaking about careers at the time, the statement is true for all aspects of oneâs life. Passion is inspiring and energizing and can lead to big ideas and actions. Sharing with the school where your passion lies gives the admissions committee an idea of where you might someday make an impression on the world, how you might leave your markâ"especially once you are equipped with all you will gain and learn during your MBA experience. That said, do not worry if your passions seem commonplace. For example, perhaps you feel passionate about basketball. Because this is an experience that anyone could share and enjoy, it might seem pedestrian. The key, however, is not what inspires you but how you engage with it. If you can show that basketball is not just a hobby you simply enjoy from time to time but is instead something you connect with on a deep level and in various waysâ"perhaps having played for many years, you now coach youth teams in your community and have amassed a truly impressive trading card or jersey collectionâ"then this initially unremarkable-seeming choice most definitely becomes an acceptable discussion topic. Think about your possible choices in terms of intensity, enthusiasm, devotion, longevity, loyalty, excitement, and heart, and be honest with yourself. The elements of your life that inspire and align with these concepts could be appropriate fodder for this essay, while anything that does not should be immediately discarded as an option. Once you have identified the passion you wish to discuss, avoid simply telling the admissions committee about it and instead demonstrate how this passion manifests in your life. For example, rather than stating, âI have been watching and playing basketball since I was a child,â you need to create a more vivid impression of your dedication and involvement, such as âFrom playing with my brothers after school to varsity ball in college to now coaching a youth league in my community, I can hardly remember a time when basketball wasnât an integral part of my life.â b: If you were given a free day and could spend it anywhere, in any way you choose, what would you do? Like option A, this prompt asks for a window into your personal self, but with a bit of a relaxed twist. It conveys slightly less of an idea of singularly focused drive and intensity and more one of a variety of activities and experiences that would generate inner happiness and satisfaction. Whether you want to spend your free day jumping out of a plane, swinging a hammer building homes for Habitat for Humanity, or reading quietly beside a lake somewhere, the activity you share is not the admissions committeeâs focus so much as what your choice says about who you are and how you like to live your life. In this essay, you want your interests to reveal that you are an appealing and likeable characterâ"one who spends his or her time thoughtfully and productively, rather than being easily bored, indecisive, or in need of an outside source to provide distraction. Help CBS understand your internal motivations and values and how they may come into play both in the program and beyond your two years as an MBA student. And as with option A, you will want to take a âshow, rather than tellâ approach in your writing. Avoid simply stating your anticipated agenda outright, and instead strive to really bring the admissions reader along with you on this imaginary day off via your descriptions. Optional Essay: Is there any further information that you wish to provide the Admissions Committee? If so, please use this space to provide an explanation of any areas of concern in your academic record or your personal history. You may submit bullet points. (Maximum 500 words) This optional essay question starts out sounding like an open invitation to discuss almost anything you feel like sharing with the admissions committee, but the second line (which was not part of the prompt last season) dials things in and puts the spotlight on addressing problem areas specifically. The additional directive about bullet points seems to be a not-too-veiled implication that the school wants you to focus on imparting key information rather than offering a detailed and long-winded explanation of the issue in question. Without a doubt, this is not an opportunity to share another cool story or otherwise try to impress or pander to the admissions committee. If you do not truly need to explain an issue or potentially confusing element of your candidacy (a poor grade or overall GPA, a low GMAT score, a gap in your work experience, etc.), we do not recommend that you submit an option essay; if you do have issues to clarify, keep things concise. In our mbaMission Optional Essay s Guide, we offer detailed advice on when and how to take advantage of the optional essay, with multiple examples, to help you mitigate any problem areas in your profile. This movie explores the life of Jordan Belfort, a stock broker in New York whose life falls into a collapse due to his immense wealth and power. This connects to the argument against centralized power because it illustrates through the media of film how centralized power can lead to corruption of a personââ¬â¢s morals and well-being. Power, in this case, ultimately resulted in the collapse of everything in Belfortââ¬â¢s social life. Along with the social aspects of life here in America, politics are also affected by corruption due to the concentration of power. Famous rapper and notorious celebrity, Kanye West, dedicated a song to the subject of power and its negative effect on the world of politics, properly named ââ¬Å"Powerâ⬠. West states, ââ¬Å"â⬠¦the abomination of Obama s nationâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ to reference the corruption of politics in America. This connects to the argument against the concentration of power by alluding to the fact that once Barack Obama became president, his power led to America being put into a state of pure disgust. The History and Invention of the Jet Engine
Although the invention of the jet engine can be traced back to the aeolipile made around 150 B.C., Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are both recognized as being the co-inventors of the jet engine as we know it today, even though each worked separately and knew nothing of the others work. Jet propulsion is defined simply as any forward movement caused by the backward ejection of a high-speed jet of gas or liquid. In the case of air travel and engines, jet propulsion means that the machine itself is powered by jet fuel. While Von Ohain is considered the designer of the first operational turbojet engine, Whittle was first to register a patent for his schematics of a prototype, in 1930. Von Ohain obtained a patent for his prototype in 1936, and his jet was the first to fly in 1939. Whittles took off for the first time in 1941. While von Ohain and Whittle may be the acknowledged fathers of modern jet engines, many grandfathers came before them, guiding them as they paved the way for the jet engines of today. Early Jet Propulsion Concepts The aeolipileà of 150 BCE was created as a curiosity and never used for any practical mechanical purpose. In fact, it wouldnt be until the invention of the fireworks rocket in the 13th century by Chinese artists that a practical use for jet propulsion was first implemented. In 1633, Ottoman Lagari Hasan Ãâ¡elebi used a cone-shaped rocket powered by jet propulsion to fly up into the air and a set of wings to glide it back to a successful landing. However, because rockets are inefficient at low speeds for general aviation, this use of jet propulsion was essentially a one-time stunt. In any event, his effort was rewarded with a position in the Ottoman Army. Between the 1600s and World War II, many scientists experimented with hybrid engines to propel aircraft. Many used one of the piston engines formsââ¬âincluding air-cooled and liquid-cooled inline and rotary and static radial enginesââ¬âas the power source for aircraft. Sir Frank Whittles Turbojet Concept Sir Frank Whittle was an English aviation engineer and pilot who joined the Royal Air Force as an apprentice, later becoming a test pilot in 1931. Whittle was only 22 when he first thought to use a gas turbine engine to power an airplane. The young officer tried unsuccessfully to obtain official support for the study and development of his ideas but was ultimately forced to pursue his research on his own initiative. He received his first patent on turbojet propulsion in January 1930. Armed with this patent, Whittle again sought funding to develop a prototype; this time successfully. He began construction of his first engine in 1935 -- a single-stage centrifugal compressor coupled to a single-stage turbine. What was meant to be only a laboratory test rig was successfully bench-tested in April 1937, effectively demonstrating the feasibility of the turbojet concept. Power Jets Ltd. -- the firm with which Whittle was associated -- received a contract for a Whittle engine known as the W1 on July 7, 1939. In February 1940, the Gloster Aircraft Company was chosen to develop the Pioneer, the small engine aircraft the W1 engine was earmarked to power; the historic first flight of the Pioneer took place on May 15, 1941. The modern turbojet engine used today in many British and American aircraft is based on the prototype invented by Whittle. Dr. Hans von Ohains Continuous Cycle Combustion Concept Hans von Ohain was a German airplane designer who obtained his doctorate in physics at the University of Gà ¶ttingen in Germany, later becoming the junior assistant to Hugo Von Pohl, director of the Physical Institute at the university. At the time, von Ohain was investigating a new type of aircraft engine that did not require a propeller. Only 22 years old when he first conceived the idea of a continuous cycle combustion engine in 1933, von Ohain patented a jet propulsion engine design in 1934 very similar in concept to that of Sir Whittle, but different in internal arrangement. Upon the mutual recommendation of Hugo von Pohl, Von Ohain joined German aircraft builder Ernst Heinkel, at the time seeking assistance in new airplane propulsion designs, in 1936. He continued development of his jet propulsion concepts, successfully bench-testing one of his enginesà in September 1937. Heinkel designed and constructed a small aircraft known as the Heinkel He178, to serve as a testbed for this new propulsion system, which flew for the first time on August 27, 1939. Von Ohain went on to develop a second, improved jet engine known asà the He S.8A, which was first flown on April 2, 1941.

Personal Leadership Model free essay sample
Personal Model of Leadership Natasha Velez Grand Canyon University PSC-410 Servant Leadership August 30, 2010 Personal Leadership Model In order to respond to society and the world it must begin with a decision to act in the true sense of the word leadership. There is no right or wrong model of leadership and to make a better world, society needs a variety of leadership models in place. In other words, leadership doesnââ¬â¢t have to be a formal, exalted position. It is rather as the definition states: taking actions in any setting which will bring about change by motivating others (Millard, 2008). Furthermore the group does not have to be a formal group to accomplish a common goal or shared vision. Oneââ¬â¢s essence of true leadership is embodied by a framework of values, behaviors of values, sense of purpose and impact of contributions that I as a leader can refer to as one explores different models of leadership over the course of oneââ¬â¢s life Values Values can be defined as a personââ¬â¢s standards of behavior or oneââ¬â¢s judgment of what is important in life. We will write a custom essay sample on Personal Leadership Model or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Ones values are created from lifeââ¬â¢s experiences and feelings and based on oneââ¬â¢s beliefs. What I value in my personal and work life is: integrity, respect, teams/team building and commitment. These values provide a foundation for example a mission statement if you will to my life. If I know where Iââ¬â¢m head I cannot fail. Behaviors Behavior describes the actions that take place due to oneââ¬â¢s values. Because I value integrity I follow through with what is needed and expected of me. Respect is also important to me so I make it a point regardless of others behavior towards me, to treat them as the old saying goes ââ¬Å"The way I would want to be treated. Additionally I believe that teams and building is important for an organization to survive and putting in place team exercises promote a healthy organization. I too value commitment. I see commitment in the sense of corporate social responsibility (CSR) so I am committed to making positive contribution to society. Areas of Focus I would like to be known for always following through which is why I value integrity. No one likes to be talked down to or disrespected, so in return members of our team treat each otherââ¬â¢s fairly and with the upmost respect. Team building activities improves and reduces conflicts between team members, increase awareness of each individuals worth and usefulness, as well as bonding and binding the team together for the common good of the organization (Rose 2010). Lastly the commitment to CSR I will only do business with those that support and promote this responsibility. Impact Having an organization in which everyone is committed to finishing the job will have great value. Working in a team based organization will help members not only respect one another but also provide members to recognize each members worth or contributions. It is possible to achieve success the demanding market without compromising oneââ¬â¢s ethical principles yet it can be down by promoting corporate social responsibility. As I continue to explore life and the many different leadership models I understand things may change. Yet, I hold true to my values now.

Jane Eyre Human Condition Essay Example
Jane Eyre: Human Condition Paper Jane Eyre demonstrates the human condition in various ways throughout the novel. Mr. Rochester demonstrates the human conditions of reckless abandon and foolish love. Mr. Rochester demonstrates this with his wife Bertha. Mr. Rochester is a very passionate character, and passion often leads to recklessness and/or foolishness. Mr. Rochester married Bertha in Jamaica and because he did not marry for love, he neglects her when she goes mad. Instead of facing his problems or considering the consequences, Mr. Rochester locks Bertha away in the attic. Mr. Rochester demonstrates reckless abandon through his own selfishness of keeping Bertha hidden and a secret from Jane. When he and Jane become romantically involved, he continues to keep Bertha in secrecy and when he and Jane are engaged, he still does not confess his secret. Mr. Rochester demonstrates the human condition of reckless abandon out of foolishness from love. Foolish love is another human condition also revealed in Mr. Rochester. While Mr. Rochester is still married to Bertha, he insists that he and Jane run away together to France to live as husband and wife. Mr. Rochester is deeply in love with Jane and because of his emotions, he does not think about the craziness of his proposal. Transformation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Transformation - Essay Example This is the ultimate goal of my program, Teaching Math for a Better America (TMBA).. Math requires mental discipline and order, and teaches us to look beyond the obvious so our minds reach the abstract. Math as a mental exercise helps us understand and appreciate what we cannot see: great ideas such as good and justice, equality and freedom, nothingness and the infinite. Math helps us appreciate music, tempo, and rhythm, aspects of art that reflect order and proportion in life, nature, and the universe. With abstraction and order come the ultimate possibility of grasping the existence of the spiritual and the divine. I want to use math, and teaching math according to the TMBA principles I would develop, as the focal point of a transformational change in my school, in the way we teach and motivate students, and how we look at our work. Math made it easy for the human mind to handle the great calculations that have transformed our knowledge of the universe. It can also be the agent that would help transform America and the world and bring to learning, teaching, and working the spiritual meaning it sorely needs. The graduate course in education has made me realize that, more than ever, teaching is hard work, and not just because of lesson plans, tests, coping with behavioral problems, and the need to counsel students (Glatthorn, 1999). Teaching is hard work because it is the process of forming the human mind and the human spirit. This insight dawned on me as I went through the course on ethics and justice and saw a deeper meaning in what we do. Most teachers do not see beyond the formal side of teaching and education. Many of us seem to have lost the love and appreciation for our calling as teachers that demand from us a life of sacrifice and dedication. Our schools have become knowledge factories that numbly turn out thousands of minds each year with efficiency. But are we effective I doubt it. Our educational system is producing geniuses without hearts, humans without a conscience and a sense of justice and ethics who later on become scientists, politicians, and businessmen, no doubt great men and women all, who enrich our nation's material riches but who in turn take away our humanity and lay the seeds of our civilization's destruction. This has to end, and I hope to contribute my share in this effort. What makes this call for change urgent is the type of students we have: inner city kids, products of broken homes with drug-crazed or single parents that pass on to their offspring the miserable lives they were dealt and against which they never fought back. Sure, there were a few in our community who succeeded out of sheer determination, or luck, but these were more the exception than the rule. I think it is time to turn this around. We have to bring back a sense of the sublime in the lives of our students and our teachers. Our nation was created out of a strong sense of these same values, and if we want to continue being great, we need to regain that sense. Resistance to Change What I am proposing is not merely incremental,

Violence on television influences viewers to become violent Essay
Violence on television influences viewers to become violent - Essay Example Various incidents have been reported on to the media where television viewers have actually learnt negative tactics from it and applied them in real life. One recent link can be connected to the Asian Subcontinent where a twenty five year old scientist shaved off his gardenerââ¬â¢s head leaving him bald after the gardener failed to carry out his work properly one day. When the scientist was later questioned about this act, a striking revelation came forward; the previous day he had seen on the news how a robber caught by public was shaved off the hair on his head and stripped off his clothes and made to walk around the streets of the city naked ââ¬â this was where the scientist had gotten the idea of what to do with his gardener. I have always been a believer of the fact that our unconscious mind gains a lot from its surroundings, despite the fact that whatever is happening around us is acceptable to us or not. Similarly, many a times various television programs are being aired which fail to attract our interest at all. For instance, a documentary on Rape in India might fail to divert out attention towards it but our subconscious mind does pick up a little from the bits we hear of hit (Hamilton). Its human nature to learn from their surroundings and the same stands true for young kids. At that age, their mind are highly vulnerable to what is happening around them, and seeing anything on media can instill the image in their minds that it is right. A similar case was once reported in Nigeria, where a ten year old boy forcefully took off the clothes of one of his class mates. The child was later sent to reformative classes, where he confessed that he carried out the act because he had seen something similar bei ng aired on the television and his parents watching it. Despite the fact that the television has helps us in gaining information about the world alongside keeping us entertained, it can certainly not be

Furthermore, Tai Lei has set the selling price in a high level comparing with other similar products in the market in order to balance their financial statement. However, it does not help with the cost issue. We suggest that backward integration strategy would be suitable for them. Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei has already taken care of their distribution; therefore, they can acquire some of the supplier companies such as the company which provides bread and pork chop. With the implementation of this strategy, they can have better control in the cost of their business and they might lower the price to attract more customers. ii.Develop healthier product Nowadays, people concern their health more than before. The trend of the current environment is tent to buy healthy and green products and company always promotes well-being. However, the products of Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei are high calories and fats and itââ¬â¢s not what the current market looks for. According to the W5 and T7, it indicated the need to develop healthier food. For example, Tai Lei can invest a new product which claims at healthiness, such as using organic vegetables, low fat milk, vegetable oil, etc. iii.Expand the business to South East Asia and Mainland China According to the strength 1, 4, 5 and opportunity 2 and the concept of the market development, it discloses that Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei have a strong power to expand their business out of Macau. They are successful and have a long history of their business and have already accumulated a well reputation. In addition, they are famous to the South East Asia and Mainland China. Itââ¬â¢s attractiveness to the investors from those countries to invest a new business in there. Moreover, the economy of South East Asia and Mainland China are doing well nowadays, itââ¬â¢s one of the motivators that Tai Lei should expand their business to the two markets. iv.Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in existing market In strength 1 and opportunity 1, 2, 3, we suggest Tai Lei can create a new strategy with application of market penetration. Tai Lei owns two branches in Hong Kong and three in Macau. Hong Kong and Macau are popular tourism cities in the world, especially Macau; the number of tourists coming to Macau is increasing rapidly. Moreover, according to the opportunity 2, there is better economy in South East Asia and Mainland China, and the main tourists of Hong Kong and Macau are come from those countries. Advertisement and promotion can help to introduce Tai Lei to those tourists before the company enters to these two new markets. For example, using celebrities to promote the brand and product or distribute coupons via different channels. If Tai Lei put more efforts to do the advertisement and promotion in Hong Kong and Macau, it can attract more consumers and increase the market share. vi.Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) A QSPM for Cafà © de Tai Lei Loi Kei Acquire supplier companyPut more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in exiting marketExpand the business to South East Asia and Mainland ChinaDevelop healthier product External FactorWeightASTASASTASASTASASTAS Opportunities 1.Increase number of tourists coming to Macau0.1510.1540.6020.3030.45 2.Better economy in Southeast Asia and Mainland China0.1010.1030.3040.4020.20 3.Increase in Macau peopleââ¬â¢s purchasing power0.1020.2030.3010.1040.40 4.Promotion coupons attached in Macauââ¬â¢s official tourist map may help increase awareness0.0530.1540.2000.0030.15 5.Cooperation with the youth correctional institution may help finding manpower0.05-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬ Threat 1.Customers are easy to change another brand to consume pork chop bun0.1020.2040.4010.1030.30 2.Increasing number of competitors in the town selling similar product0.1520.3040.6010.1530.45 3.Increasing amount of rent in Macau may lead Tai Lei suffer0.05-ãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬ 4.Local people refuse to work in small-middle enterprises0.05-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬ 5.Negative comments from online reviews and locals0.0510.0540.2030.1520.10 6.Negative news in Taipaââ¬â¢s flagship store in December 2011 (required to close by IACM)0.0510.0540.2020.1030.15 7.People seek for healthier food and beverage nowadays0.1010.1020.2030.3040.40 Sub Total1.00ãâ¬â¬1.30ãâ¬â¬3.00ãâ¬â¬1.60ãâ¬â¬2.60 Internal FactorWeightASTASASTASASTASASTAS Strengths 1.Old history and reputable brand name0.1010.1040.4030.3020.20 2.Use central manufactory to produce pork chop to ensure same quality and acquired ISO recognition0.05-ãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬ 3.Earning profit every year0.1510.1530.4540.6020.30 4.Attractiveness to investors from South East Asia and Mainland China0.1510.1530.4540.6020.30 5.Strong marketing team to develop new promotional programs and expansion strategies0.1010.1040.4030.3020.20 Weakness 1.Low educational level of all level of the employee0.05-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬ 2.Lack of manpower0.10ãâ¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬-ãâ¬â¬- 3.High selling price compares to similar products in the market0.1540.6020.3010.1530.45 4.Limited amount of branches in Macau Peninsula0.0510.0540.2030.1520.10 5.Most products are in high calories 0.1010.1030.3020.2040.40 Subtotal1.00ãâ¬â¬1.252.50ãâ¬â¬2.301.95 Sub Total Attractiveness Scoreãâ¬â¬Ã£â¬â¬2.555.50ãâ¬â¬3.904.55 As the table of QSPM for Cafà © de Tai Lei Loi Kei show that the left two columns are extracted verbatim from the EFEM and IFEM of Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei and also note that four alternative strategies ââ¬â 1) Acquire supplier company 2) Develop healthier product 3) Expand the business to South East Asia and Mainland China 4) Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in exiting market ââ¬â were from the companyââ¬â¢s SWOT Matrix. Moreover, the Attractiveness Score (AS) from1 to 4 is used to reveal each strategyââ¬â¢s attractiveness given the respective external or internal factor, where 4 is the best and 1 is the least attractive. Work row by row in developing the QSPM and decide which strategy is the best for the external or internal factor. After conducted the QSPM, the strategy of ââ¬Å"Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in exiting marketâ⬠was highly recommended based on the result of the sum total of the Attractiveness Score from QSPM and it acquired the highest score of 5.50. The second recommendation strategy is ââ¬Å"Develop healthier productâ⬠and the third one is ââ¬Å"Expand the business to South East Asia and Mainland Chinaâ⬠due the priority of the Attractiveness Score, which is 4.55 and 3.90. QSPM can be important information for a firm to make decision of strategies. The strategy of the Attractiveness Score below 3 in the QSPM is not taken into the consideration. The reason of chosen ââ¬Å"Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in exiting marketâ⬠as the highly recommend strategy, the Attractiveness Score of this strategy in the sector of external factor, there are twoà opportunities are rated as 4 and two rated as 3 reflecting that the strategy was attractive enough to fulfill those opportunities and one of the opportunities is not related; those opportunities are related to the market trends ââ¬â the chance for increasing sales because the tourists, especially the South East Asian and Mainland China tourists, are flooding to Macau tourism market and the booming economy increase the spending ability of local people as well. In addition, two threats about the competitors become more and more because of the opportunities that they can gain the market share of pork chop bun, besides; two threats related to lots of negative comments, news are appeared on the internet, newspaper and magazine. Therefore, a strategy of ââ¬Å"Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in exiting marketâ⬠got the highest score on Attractiveness Score because it can against this situation by create more promotional advertisements and distributed by mass media in order to capture the largest amount of pork chop bun market share, by the way; this strategy can break the negative comments and news as well. The remaining one about the shortage of man power in Macau cannot solve by the firm themselves due to the government policy. On the other hand, in the internal factor, two strengths are rated as 4 and two strengths are rated as 3 to show that Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kei has the ancient and reputation brand name, the ISO recognition and the new hire marketing team so it is attractive enough to get the attention of investors all over the world, besides they had good financial report on earn profit per year. Thus, ââ¬Å"Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in existing marketâ⬠can be chosen as a tool to attract more investors so as to expand the pork chop bun market by the promotional advertisement about the ancient and reputation brand name and cooperate with the new hire marketing team, the expanding no longer focus on Macao but Southeast Asia. And one strength does not have any relationship of this strategy. Moreover, one of the weaknesses is rated as 2 and one is rated as 4 related to higher price and do not have enough branches in Macau, so the promotional poster or promote in the travel guide book to emphasis the ancient brand name with ââ¬Å"where to buy instruction that can be a good solution to against the weaknesses which already excited in Tai Lei, furthermore; one of the weaknesses is rated as 3 for the less of healthier food, thus first at all, Tai Lei prove some health product then use ââ¬Å"Putà more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in existing marketâ⬠to do more promotion of the related product. And the other weaknesses are no impacted on this strategy. STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION i.Acquire supplier company Acquisition is one of the backward integration methods. Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei could acquire suppliers such as the pork chop and bread suppliers, etc. This benefits Tai Lei because it eliminates the profit which normal suppliers get from Tai Lei, causing reduction of cost. Upon the acquisition, Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei may have to keep all the original staff of the suppliers. However, the organizational culture of the two firms may be different so it becomes difficult for Tai Lei to persuade all staff to have full commitment to the Cafà ©. Remuneration package have to been discussed again in order to retain all experienced staff. ii.Develop healthier product Inventing and creating new flavor products will be a way for Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei to survive in the keen competition. Customers are always looking for new products and innovations, especially some healthy food. After the launch of new products, it takes Tai Lei a long period of time to test the market response and to see whether the customers accept the new products or not. Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei will definitely bear the risk that the new products do not help them to expand the product line and obtain good response from customers. iii.Expand the business to South East Asia and Mainland China It costs Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei a lot to expand a new market, such as some South East Asian countries. They have to spend a lot on marketing campaigns and promotion methods. Tai Lei has to tolerate the heavy marketing expenses and at the same time, bear the risk that the customers from new market do not accept this kind of new products. The marketing strategies with high cost will affect Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Keiââ¬â¢s profit. iv.Put more efforts on the advertisement and promotion in existing market By applying the same concept with the expansion of new market in South East Asian countries, Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei has to spend a lot to emphasis more on the marketing effort within the existing markets, Macau and Hong Kong. It will be beneficial for them to focus more on the existing market since it is easier to retain customers rather than attracting new customers. However, the high marketing cost decreases Tai Leiââ¬â¢s revenue at the same time. CONCLUSION Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei is a local brand with long history, selling its superior pork chop bun to delight customers with most efforts. According to the interview result and data, we created a brand new vision and mission for Tai Lei. Those interview result includes its internal strengths and weaknesses, external opportunities and threats and many other factors which may affect the future development and performance of Tai Lei. A number of matrixes have been conducted to better analysis the current situation of Tai Lei. After all the matrixes analysis, four strategies have been developed. We suggest Cafà © Tai Lei Loi Kei to adopt these four strategies, in order to further develop and expand its own business and have a more prosperous future.

Cloning Technology: With Respect to Faith and Reason Essay example --
Cloning Technology: With Respect to Faith and Reason Church VS Science The idea of sitting in an airport and seeing someone walk past that looks identical to you may seem absurd, but due to new scientific development it may not stay that way for long. In 1953 two scientists by the names of James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the structure of DNA.1 DNA can be defined as the makeup of chromosomes, which carry genetic information. DNA is present in nearly every living organism and can be found in a living organisms body tissue, hair, and blood.2 The discovery of DNA has led to amazing advances in the medical field. When the structure was first discovered society did not fully understand some of the possible outcomes of DNA. Since its discovery, scientists have worked very hard at understanding the complexity of DNA. Today it is obvious that if it were legal for scientists to clone a human being they would have both the technology as well as the willingness to do it. Scientists have already successfully cloned a sheep in Scotland. However, there is a part of society that opposes cloning technology because they feel it goes against the ways of nature designed by God. The debate about human cloning as right or wrong strongly deals with the Humanity Based Theme of Faith and Reason. Due to the way cloning technology violates many religious beliefs it must be stopped before corrupting all of human existence. Is Childhood Behavior Better or Worse Than It Was Years Ago? Essay
Family life compared to a hundred years ago is on the decline. Everyone moves at a fast pace these days. My Father and Mother are working to maintain the home, while my sisters and my brother are left to their own devices and there isnââ¬â¢t a coming together to sit down and communicate on some level. There just doesnââ¬â¢t seem to be enough time in the day. Technology has advanced so much compared to a hundred years ago, that we are well on our way to fuel less cars and robotic companions. Yet, with advanced technology comes the added responsibilities to maintain and seek out other avenues for even far move advanced technologies to help support the life styles we have come accustomed to. Is this then better than before when we were thankful just to have light and running water in the house? Education is by far better today than a hundred years ago! The fields of learning have been opened up to boys and girls equally to seek out far greater possibilities than were even imaginable a hundred years ago. Yet, with this privilege of learning has came a decline in our education system. The lack of adequate teachers, the high rise in disrespect for authority, just the lack of caring whether you learn or not has affected our education system. A hundred years ago the thought of a higher education was just a dream for most. If you acquired a fifth grade reading level you were doing good. Learning was a privilege, and yet today we cast an education around as if it were an article of clothing. While there has been such great strides in our would today compared to a hundred years ago, we have missed out on the carefree, thankfulness, and appreciation of the things and others around us. We take for granted what we hoped to have or even imagined we could have years ago. But now in this generation child behavior is much worse than it was years ago. Disrespect for authority figures. The fault lies with the parents to be sure. We are told to cater to our childrens emotional ââ¬Å"needsâ⬠and that coperal puminshment is bad for them. Children require constant training, patience and love ââ¬â most of todays parents are too busy or selfish to make this kind of investment. If children are allowed to control and manipulate their parents as in the description above, the parent will be helpless to teach that child anything.

Technology And Evolution Of Cell Phones - 2038 Words
When cell phones were first introduced, they were large and expensive. In 1983 the first truly mobile phone was released by Motorola. It was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000x. To some people it is known as the ââ¬Å"Zack Morris phone.â⬠He used this phone on a regular basis in a popular television show called ââ¬Å"Saved by the bellâ⬠which took place in the late 80ââ¬â¢s to early 90ââ¬â¢s. It was an extremely large device compared to the ones we are used to now and it was only designed to make phone calls. It was not often used for personal use like today. ââ¬Å"They were primarily used in the sales and business world, but not for personal use like you see todayâ⬠said Kreg Jones, an industrial designer and industrial design instructor at the Art institute of Philadelphia (ââ¬Å"The History and Evolution of Cell Phonesâ⬠). Initially cell phones could only make phone calls. In later cell phones eventually voicemail was added, but the main feature was still talk ing. Eventually companies realized the potential to integrate other technologies into the phones. The earliest smart phones integrated email access and allowed the phone to be used as an address book, pager, and fax machine. Cell phones more recently picked up the name ââ¬Å"mobile deviceâ⬠as the purpose has shifted to more of a multimedia device rather than just a phone used for only direct communication.
